What is the Les Sources de Caudalie, and why is it unique?
Table of Contents
Bordeaux, France, is famous for having some of the best French vineyards and wine in France. But what if the famous Bordeaux wine wasn’t just for drinking? Thirty minutes south of Bordeaux in Martillac stands Les Sources de Caudalie, a luxury hotel, spa, and Michelin Star restaurant in the French vineyards. There, visitors can not only enjoy drinking wine, but soaking in it as well (yes please!) through “vinotherapy”. A process in which during winemaking residue is rubbed into the skin.
Imagine taking a bubble bath infused with wine as you stare out into the French vineyards. This is just one of the many luxurious and one-of-a-kind treatments that Les Sources de Caudalie offers.
Caudalie, a French skincare brand, is best known for creating products using the grapes they harvest at Château Smith Haut Lafitte on the same property as the spa. In 1999, Caudalie discovered a hot spring 1,500 feet underground, and the Vinothérapie Spa was born.

It’s a Lifestyle
Alice and Jérôme Tourbier have managed Les Sources de Caudalie for the past 10 years, upholding the values central to the French Paradox: well-being, generosity, authenticity, high-quality service, and passion. You will experience all of these traits as soon as you enter the enchanting world of Les Sources de Caudalie.

Most have spectacular views of the French vineyards; the feel is rustic, cozy, authentic, and luxurious. Although Les Sources de Caudalie is a hotel, the rustic cottages provide a more intimate feeling, as if you’re living in your own home in the French countryside.

Vinothérapie Spa
After nurturing your taste buds with French wine, it’s time to nurture your body and mind. The Vinothérapie Spa uses only Caudalie brand products originally created by Mathilde Thomas on the Château Smith Haut Lafitte grounds. The spa itself lends to the nature of the Bordeaux vineyards with the wood and stone appointments and the size of the building, which is reminiscent of an old tobacco kiln. All of the designs harmonize perfectly with the French landscape.

The spa, along with the hot spring 1,500 feet underground, has an innovative new way of using active polyphenol, components found in grape pips. Caudalie was a pioneer of this concept decades ago and continues to use it in all of its treatments and products today.
Looking for a one-of-a-kind treatment? Try the famous Crushed Cabernet scrub, Honey and Wine Wrap, Barrel Bath, and Winemaker’s Massage. Your body will thank you as you emerge glowing after your day at the Vinothérapie Spa.

Budget Tip:
If the hotel is out of your budget, you can still indulge in the French Paradox experience by spending a day at the spa and eating at one of the hotel’s restaurants for a bucket list experience you’ll never forget.
